Top 5 Things To Do At Home With Kids

March 28, 2020

In an ideal world, your kids are occupying themselves with their own imagination while you cross off all of your to-dos. But any experienced parent will know that eventually, the “I’m bored” protests will start cycling throughout the house, so it might be a good idea to have some entertaining things to do up your sleeve.

And lucky for you, we put together a list of our top 5 things to do indoors with kids!

Make a Home Cinema

Most parents will find that it is almost impossible to pull your kid’s eyes off the screens. So if you are stuck indoors, there is really no better way to spend that time than a family movie marathon! Looking for tips for a successful home cinema? Grab your favorite snacks, snuggle up on the sofa and just press play!

Hold an Indoor Treasure Hunt

A creative way to entertain your kids indoors would be to make up a list of items that could be found throughout the house and host a treasure hunt! This could not only be a fun way to pass the time but you can also get your children to problem-solve. All you need is a printed treasure map and a basket to collect the items that you have hidden around your home!

Build a Living Room Fort

One of the best things about childhood is the amount of imagination that kids have, even for everyday things like blankets and pillows. If you don’t mind a little unconventional mess, why not build a fort in the living room with your children? All you would need to build the ideal at-home castle is sofa cushions, blankets, chairs, and pillows! And if you happen to have some spare boxes from past online purchases laying around, you could even reinforce your fortress with a cardboard wall and some packing tape. The possibilities are endless with this activity, you just need a little imagination!

Play Cards or Board Games

This might seem like a classic and potentially dated indoor activity but some of the best memories are made over boards like Monopoly or Candyland. The ever popular card games like Go Fish and Crazy Eights are also a great way to pass the time with your kids in the simplest way.

Bake Something Tasty

Whether a child or adult, there are very few who don’t enjoy eating something sweet! So if you find yourself running low on different activities to do indoors, baking together might be a unique idea to add to the mix. Plus getting your kid involved in the kitchen could be a good way to introduce them to new flavors and foods!

These are just a few ways that you can keep yourself and your child(ren) occupied when you have to stay indoors but the possibilities truly are endless! And as part of our Kahana Village ohana, we want to hear how you and your kids stay entertained inside. Get in touch and share today!
