We were traveling with our 8 month old baby for the first time, and our flight landed early. They were really kind and allowed us to store our luggage in the office until it was time for check-in. Additionally, we had a late flight and they were SO accomodating and let us use the washrooms/lounge area until it was time to leave. As you can imagine, that saved our sanity, especially with our little one who still needed her naps & diaper changes. They even gave her little toys and helped us load her carseat when it was time to leave. THAT is exceptional hospitality and kindness! (And we all need a little more of that in today's world!). The condo was extremely clean and came fully equipped. Their mai tai parties are so much fun! I could not recommend a better stay. read less

It's right on the beach and most units have a view of the ocean. The beach is sandy, but there are rocks once you go out in the water. All the apartments came with coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit and a 3 bedroom unit while we were there. They are privately owned so they were decorated very differently. We really liked the Mai Tai party that they have every Wednesday night by the pool. They have drinks, snacks, music, dancing, and they gave away some prizes. Very fun! More read less

Location can’t be beat in the best part of our favorite island close to Lahaina & Kapalua, but set in a quiet street away from the busy sections in those cities. We appreciated Unit 3’s upgrades with remodeled bathrooms & kitchen & the newer furnishings throughout. But the best part may be the view from the west facing balcony, the perfect place to enjoy the Maui sunsets with a glass of wine every day.
The complex is just the right size. Big enough to have a nice size pool & immaculate grounds without the clutter of a large resort. They host a fun Mai Thai party Wednesdays at 5:00 with live entertainment & multiple raffle prizes.
The owners provide lots of advice for fun hikes & restaurants. For special occasions try Lahaina Grill, one of the top 10 restaurants in the US.
After 6 beautiful sunsets we had to get back to reality comforted by the knowledge we found our little slice of paradise with thoughts of returning soon with friends in tow. read less

The property is very well kept and the management has been very responsive to our inquiries and the few issues we had. The unit definitely needs some TLC. It is one of the larger units, 1200 sq ft, we have stayed at in Maui and a big big plus for having an in unit washer and dryer. We are on the second floor, 2 bedroom. The stairs coming up to the unit and the stairs going up to the 2nd level loft bedroom may soon be an issue for us, but for now being on the second floor is worth the views. The lower level unit are 3 bedroom all on one level. We would definitely stay here again. More read less

First time staying there and I would absolutely come back. So, let's break this down: 1. Atmosphere: Very old Hawaii although the condo itself was recently updated. Quiet, on a very quiet bay that is chock full of turtles. Very small sand beach surrounded by lots of rocks, some reef, etc. This probably draws the turtles but the downside is the clarity of the water there is very very poor. While other areas around this side were quite clear during this period, this bay was most definitely not so keep that in mind. Not a great snorkel experience unless you go really really far out. There are BBQs facing the beach, a great little cabana, chairs, a small pool and well maintained Hawaii garden vibe. Really peaceful and perfect. 2. Unit itself: While some have been redone and apparently some have not, one one we were in (Unit 16) had been redone. Lovely Hawaiian furniture, granite counters, updated bathrooms, air, and an exceptionally well-stocked kitchen with everything you would need to cook, store, etc. They also start you out with a little starter pack of coffee, some spices, etc. and if a guest leaves behind a spice, that is there for you to use. beds were comfortable, bedding was great, view was spectacular, and I really cannot think of anything inside the unit... AND a washer/dryer with some pods. Bonus for us!
3. Amenities: The BBQ is clean and ready to use (gas) which is great. There are 6 Tommy Bahama beach chairs, a couple of different sized coolers, ours also had fishing gear, some boogy boards, and we purchased a left a couple of noodles. Really everything you need for a great trip to the beach. We checked and brought our own beach umbrella so we were set.
4. Support/Front office: They were terrific. We had a couple of chair problems that were immediately resolved, we found a broken dish that was resolved, we had them come fix a screen door that was off track that was very quickly resolved. I really don't think you could ask any more of the front office staff. They were friendly, on it, didn't appear as if you were causing them a problem. First rate folks.
5. Location: We thought the location was perfect. A quieter area in Kahana but beach front. Easy drive to Kaanapali, Lahaina, Napili, Honolua bay, Kapalua bay, etc. We much preferred it to the busier less Hawaiian area of Kaanapali.
All in all, this was probably my favorite place I've stayed in Hawaii (and I've stayed in a few, including the Westin Nanea) and we will definitely be back. More read less

Also, the pool was only 3 feet deep. We have never been at a complex with such a shallow pool. That was sad since no one wanted to swim in the ocean. The hot tub was broken in that it was insanely hot. Like soo hot we couldn't even put our foot in. Hopefully the management will get that figured out.
We definitely reccomend this place if you are looking for a place with the best view on the island. I'm glad we found the best snorkel beach just a few minutes up the road, Slaughterhouse Beach (See of the gorgeous Cove with turquoise water and large sand beach) . Unbelievable snorkeling with a huge Sandy beach and even shade. We spent multiple days there.
Food was hard to find around there. Loved Joey's kitchen. But you will have to head down to Lahina and find more places. Don't miss grocery shopping at Times Market. I love all the local island favorites there.
Loved every sunset and picture we took. The grounds were beautiful. And The View did not disappoint! More read less

We were concerned as we knew that beaches in that area were losing sand at an alarming rate over the past few years. However, this resort sits on "Secret Beach" which is more like a cove. We had been watching their webcam for some time before we even booked in order to see daily life at the resort. We liked what we saw and booked for June 2021 for two weeks. We chose our unit carefully taking into consideration that we wanted a unit that overlooked the beach and had enough living room seating for four adults to actually stretch out and be comfortable. We rented #27 and really enjoyed it. Mornings on the lanai with iced coffee, a rain sprinkle or two, a comical Oriental Beetle and Green Anole, and THE VIEW were exactly what we were looking for. The grounds are beautiful with Hawaiian flowers. All of the upstairs units are two bedrooms which are really one real bedroom and a spacious loft with its own bathroom. Our unit had twin beds in the loft of which we requested to be made into a king bed. It was comfortable as could be. There were three a/c's in the unit, one in the living room, one in the real bedroom, and one in the loft. However, we are from AZ and enjoyed the weather so much that we usually left the windows open which created a nice cross draft and this kept the unit nice and cool. We did end up closing the windows in the late afternoon and enjoyed some a/c time. This unit was well stocked with almost everything one would need, including spices. One thing that we noticed was that the king bedspread had multiple stains on the inside of it. It appeared to have not been washed in years. We enjoyed our "private" beach. Half of it was a rock outcrop which drew in green sea turtles. The other half was nice white sand. We found that it was easier to enter the gentle surf if we wore beach shoes so that we wouldn't be surprised by stepping on stray rocks. Maintenance was helpful and always kept the common areas perfect. The pool was pleasant although a little on the cool side. It was only 3 foot deep which is perfect for being lazy. The jacuzzi was on the fritz and was either 89 or 105 degrees. The common ramada was a nice place to cook dinner on one of the four barbecues and then enjoy the nice seating. A friend of the on-site manager came by frequently and would play the ukulele which was pleasant. During two weeks, two different green sea turtles hauled up our beach for a rest. The last one hauled up only 20 feet from where we were sitting. At that point, the population on our beach went from 2 to 3. Turtles could be seen daily eating the sea grass from the rocks. It was hard to see them while snorkeling due to turbidity. Sunsets were phenomenal. Views to Lanai and Molokai were great. Surf was never strong enough to knock one down. It was nice to just bob out in the slight waves. On our last night, we saw fins in the cove! It was not a dolphin. Coincidentally, that was the day when three turtles stayed within two feet of the beach. We hope to come back some time! read less

Our friends unit was newly (within 5-10 years) remodeled and ours - unit 39 - was a 70s throwback, including scratched parquet floors and aging recliners.
Our view was better. Balcony looked straight at the beach.
Their view was of the pool, garden then beach.
Both had AC - which was fantastic.
They were the same price.
There seemed to be even more recently remodeled units for even dearer price points.
Great access to roads to beaches or town.
Easy in and out of the resort - no long walks to elevators rides.
Wonderful bbq gazebo and lounge chairs on the turf.
Great for groups or families. More read less

Our kids loved being able to go from the pool right to the ocean in 20 steps. The beach itself is really nice compared to some of the other oceanfront properties in the area. There beach itself is really sandy which was nice for the kids to play in. It's a bit more rocky in the water so having water shoes is a good idea but not absolutely necessary. There was decent snorkeling, we saw several turtles at this beach. So if you're looking for a place a little less "resort-like" but still oceanfront this is a great option. And at a fraction of the price!
The management was great. The dryer went out in our unit and they couldn't get anyone in to fix it till the next day so they gave us access to an empty unit so we could get our laundry done. That meant more to us than they probably know!
There is a gas station, general store, coffee shop, mcdonalds, maui brewery, chinese and sushi restaurants all within walking distance. It's away enough from the hustle and bustle of Ka'anapali and Lahaina that it's quiet and relaxing. But close enough that you can be there within 5-10 minutes.

Kahana Village is for a lower-key experience. The other guests and residents were really friendly, and hang out together at the pool, spa, barbecues, and narrow beach. The cove at Kahana has a reef that is suitable for snorkeling and surfing, but there are a lot of rocks where the surf hits the sand. Napili Bay (about a mile away) has more sand, so it's more popular for snorkeling. Most of the surfers enter the water at Pohaku Park to the south of Kahana Village. It's really convenient that the condo has a nicely-equipped kitchen. On most of the days of our visit, we ate breakfast and lunch in the condo and went out for dinner. Here are a few tips for your visit...
When booking, you'll find listings for Kahana Village on Vrbo and Airbnb, but it's better to book directly on the Kahana Village web site to avoid booking fees.
After arriving on Maui, stop at the Walmart or Target close to the Kahului airport to stock up on staples for the kitchen (which for us included beer). Shop at the Napili Market (about a mile from Kahana Village) for poke or other fresh food. If you're staying at Kahana Village, you're probably not looking for a really touristy experience, so you'll probably want to avoid the shops and restaurants to the south at Ka'anapali. The pool was perfect for our little swimmers. It is 3 feet with no deep end, so I was so confident with them in this pool. The room (Unit 9) was perfect for us. The room configuration was good, although I will caution parents that putting little ones upstairs might not be ideal as the bed is up right next to the upstairs balcony, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving our rambunctious four-year-old up there (he likes to jump on beds) and that would have been dangerous. Otherwise, the unit was perfect for a family. The kitchen is well stocked with plastic cups for kids, boogie boards, towels etc. Another note for parents, the beach is great to walk on (and ok for adult swimming) but it really isn’t great for kids. We loved the location since we could jump in the car to get to a kid-friendly beach, but if you are picking based on access to a beach for kids, this isn’t quite the place. We loved having the sand there, and seeing the sunset and walking on the beach, but you will need to head to another beach for swimming. Parking is great, right next to your room, no serious walking, so unloading gear in and out of the car was easy. I am so happy we stayed at... Kahana Village was a wonderful resort for our family. There was also quite a bit of dust on the tv in the downstairs living area. I chalk this up to the screen doors being left open. These are very minimal things, I... First visit to Maui. The grounds of the complex are well cared for, and we enjoyed the oceanfront pool. While the property beach is beautiful, it is a bit rocky so we were hesitant to swim there. We were unable to attend the Saturday lei-making classes, but attended a Wednesday Mai-Tai party from afar at the pool because the actual party area was quite busy and popular.
Staff on hand was also very friendly. There isn’t much within walking distance, but most stores and restaurants are a short drive away. Popular tourist attractions are a bit further, so keep in mind that you will be driving a great deal.

Our room overlooked a quiet beach with views of two other islands. It has a pool overlooking the beach and is conveniently located North of Lahaina between the two major resorts. It was quiet and recently redone in top of line materials, furniture and appliances.
The biggest thing we liked was that the folks who operate and work there are all very friendly and seem to genuinely care about every little detail from the grounds to extreme cleanliness. They even have new beach chairs, boogie boards, etc in each room. In talking to other guests, most have returned here year after year, which we took as a sign of consistent quality. More read less

We made good use of the oceanside gas grills. Outdoor man cave, thank you!

A couple of items that prevented this from being an excellent review.
1. The beach does have sand but there are a lot of rocks. Not really a good place to go into the water because the rocks.
2. The patios only have 1 side that is walled off, the other side was open. This prevents having privacy from the adjoining condo.
Other than that, this is a great place to stay. read less

Kahana Village was perfect for our desires. We wanted something with close ocean view that wasn't just another big hotel property. If given the opportunity I would like to purchase the unit we had. It's cozy, yet spacious and convenient to many must visit places on the island.

It's quite private so there were only a handful of people out there any given day. The kitchen was modern, the fridge was already stocked with some bottles of water, some coffee and there were tea bags provided as well. There were plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, pots & pans and even baking supplies. The staff was lovely. Vicky, Mike and Jeff were all helpful. There was a lady came and cleaned our room halfway through our stay and restocked us with toilet paper and kleenex. Our only complaint was it was a bit far from everything. The grocery store was not just around the corner, it was a long walk and as I had injured my leg, hubby had to go walk about himself and ended up carrying way too much stuff on a long walk. We didn't want to have to worry about a car, so we didn't rent one. I suggest if you want to stay here, maybe you should. There is a bus right outside,,, not sure where that takes you; we probably should have investigated that. Next time we will, if there is one. The taxi service seemed to be below par also. Not sure what was going on there. You have to make it clear you're at Kahana Village because there's Kahana Villa as well. The dispatcher either doesn't speak or understand English very well and/or needs new telephone upgrade. The phone kept cutting in & out and you end up wondering if he understood what you were asking...we waited forever a couple of times. On the last day, we waited forever for the one to take us to the airport (Kapalua which is close). The lovely Vicki ended up driving us as we were afraid we would miss our flight. I can't blame Kahana Village for this at all though. Everything there was lovely. E-mails to & from before we arrived were answered quickly, politely and efficiently by the lovely Gretchen who I met on the last day.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful and we love meeting people at the Wednesday Mai Tai party. The units and grounds are immaculate and are just so quiet. Unit 34 has wonderful views of the ocean, sunsets. and neighboring islands and is away from the hub of the pool, its just perfect.
Its walking distance to the Kahana Gateway centre which has the wonderful Maui Brewing Company (just the 3 visits this time) and Hawaiian Village Coffee which has the best coffee on the island. The Whalers General store is handy too. Just minutes drive from the fantastic Kapalua Bay beach which is great for snorkelling and just a few more minutes down the road is the hidden Slaughterhouse Beach which is wonderful too.
Its a long way to come from the UK, but its worth it. Sitting watching the sunset on the beach with a beer is as good as it gets. Kahana Village is genuinely our favorite place on the planet.

The heat and humidity was terrible when we were there the first week of October but the beach (in the shade) was lovely. Because of 3 recent storms, the water at the small beach in front of the complex was very muddy and murky and we had to travel to go swimming in the ocean. The pool was quite nice except the first day we were there, there were 14 (!!) small children in the pool and the noise and activity level was too high for relaxation. This pretty much continued throughout the week, so if you're looking for quiet relaxation, this is not the place. There are beautiful barbecues by the beach also. The location was fantastic and we were centrally located to all of West Maui's amenities. The absolute worst part of our stay, however, was the lack of air conditioning. It was impossible to sleep in the loft d/t heat rising and we slept in the main bedroom w/ 4 fans on us. It was well over 84 degrees in the condo and the humidity was sky high also. The only way I'd ever stay here again is if we were in a different condo that had AC and I'd have second thoughts about all of the children running rampant. More read less

It was worth every penny to have such a view every morning while having breakfast on the balcony. The pool is quite small but well kept and the proprty sits right on a beautiful sandy beach. The management is outstanding, I had a problem with construction going on one unit over and was promptly moved away from the noise and even to a more luxurious unit (mahalo!). The resort also provides free lei making classes on saturdays and a mai tai party with free food and drinks with live music, hula and a hula dance lesson on wednesdays. Be sure not to miss that! I would definitely recommend to family and friends, especially when travelling with kids! read less

We recently visited Kahana Village this past August 2018. We were in the upper level of condo 4. Beautiful oceanfront location. Clean and up to date furnishings. Resort staff were very helpful and kind. Highly recommend this spot.

The condo was very nice although the unit was getting a little tired and needed a makeover. Because of the hurricane we had to pull all the lanai furniture inside for several days and stay pretty much inside. Its not really fair to judge our stay because of the weather. The property is lovely, pool great and sandy beach and tide pools spectacular. We hope we can visit again without Lane. read less

The view from this condo is everything that I'd hoped, an uninterrupted view of the ocean. That area of the beach is quiet so it feels very private. Well equipped condo, clean, good selection of cable TV if you want that. Feels very spacious with the loft. The beach is OK and the pool is very nice, lots of seating. There are definitely better beaches( for snorkeling and swimming) close by so I recommend exploring.Staff were helpful, and late check went without any problems. The garden and grounds around the complex are well maintained with lots of flowers and fruit trees and it feels very private. More read less
