Maui Family Vacation – Planning Ideas That Keep Everyone Happy

It feels like spring has just started but as the island is warming back up, we are reminded that summer is just around the corner. The annual opportunity to make those cherished memories is one that is hard to pass up and Maui offers the perfect backdrop for a family vacation. Here at Kahana Village, we believe that your Hawaii experience should be as relaxing as possible and that relaxation should extend to the beginning stages of your trip. With that in mind, we have a few tips to keep planning paradise as stress-free as possible.

Get the Kids Involved
The charm of Hawaii versus other tropical destinations is the variety of things to do. There truly is something for everyone and for traveling families that is a sigh of sweet relief. The best family activities in Maui vary from playing in the sand at one of the famous white sand beaches to getting a unique taste of Hawaiian traditions at a local luau, so what is the best way to plan for fun Maui activities? To ensure that you aren’t pulling your hair out while mapping out an itinerary that makes everyone happy, we suggest that you give them the option to choose. Allowing your keiki (children) to make some decisions for the agenda creates more excitement and increases the chances that everyone enjoys their Maui vacation.

Yes, Even the Big Kids
Objections on a trip is not only reserved for the little guys, so the adults in the party should have a say in what that itinerary looks like! To make things easy, and to avoid repeating yourself, create a Facebook group or a shared document on Google drive. This encourages everyone to participate and contribute at least one item for the itinerary, plus it builds more enthusiasm for the summer!

Divide and Conquer
Most importantly, we would like you to keep in mind that 100% of the activities on Maui do not need to be done together. While you may want to spend as much time as possible together, half of the family might want to lounge around the West Maui vacation rental as the other half is out exploring. When you divide and conquer, the chances of everyone leaving the island with sun kissed smiles are even higher!

Stuck finding the perfect place to stay in Hawaii? Well take a beachfront property tour to get a better idea of what Kahana Village has to offer, you might just want the summer to come even sooner!
